A Taste of the East Coast
Sokcho, on Korea’s east coast, is famous for its seafood — and one of its signatures is myeongtae-hoemuchim, seasoned pollack. Chewy pollack is tossed in a bright dressing that’s sweet, tangy, and a little spicy, delivering a fresh, appetizing punch you rarely find in landlocked central Seoul.
Served as a Wrap
At Jongno Bansanghoe we serve seasoned pollack with fresh wrap greens, so you can eat it ssam-style. Pile a little onto a leaf, wrap, and enjoy — the crunch of the greens against the tangy pollack is what makes it so moreish.
It doubles as a great anju (drinking dish) and a lively side to a bigger meal.
What to Drink With It
The bright, tangy flavor pairs especially well with soju or a kettle of dongdongju, both of which cut through and refresh between bites. It also comes as one of the companions to our Bansanghoe Bossam, so you can try it as part of a larger spread.
